Dnipropetrovsk region will nominate Cossacks songs at status of intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO
Nowadays the process of nominating of Cossacks songs at status of intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO has started. According to the plan of Regional government, the nomination dossier will be given to UNESCO in March of 2015.
The nominating process is being held as a part of the regional program aimed to found and save cultural heritage of Dnipropetrovsk region.
«It is of a great importance not just to give a dossier in UNESCO. It is important to create an environment for development and saving of Cossaks songs. First of all we are going to analyze archives and gather existing songs. Then we plan to organize an expedition where audio and video of songs and people who are carriers of these songs will be done. In march of 2015 we are going to give a nominating dossier to UNESCO», — said Head of Dnipropetrovsk regional Council Eugene Udod.
Recall that in December of 2013, in Baku at the meeting of the special commission by the safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage UNESCO, a decision about assignment of the status «Intangible cultural heritage of humanity UNESCO» to Petrykiwka painting has been done.
An initiative of Petrykiwka nominating to «Intangible cultural heritage of humanity UNESCO» belongs to ex-Governor of Dnipropetrovsk region, vice prime-minister of Ukraine (2013-2014) Alexander Vilkul and Head of Dnipropetrovsk regional Council Evgen Udod.
